Copyright Review

Last week in class we watched a video that talked alot about copyrights to video's and also other sounds around the world.

One thing I can take from this video is that no matter how much we continue to discuss about the problems some of us may have with it, we cannot change it. In fact, many artist's have already remixed songs on their albums that have been hits. Some of my favorite artists such as Kanye West and Drake have done so on such albums "Watch The Throne" and "Take Care", which are both top choices as one of my favorite albums from 2011. Remixed music will just keep happening despite how much some may not like it, we live in a world today where opinions do not really matter to artists, they will keep making THEIR music.

To reflect on that, I think the only problem that I would have with remixing music is just remixing the works on past legends who have pasted away. I do not think any of us would like if Soulja Boy did a remake of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" right? So, to some extent, I have a little issue with the works of remixed songs as well.

Mainly, Copyright rules are flawed because no matter what, people are still going to break them. Or at least people are going to be on the verge of breaking them before they get caught. I think I would feel the most sympathy for the producers and experts that spend all day making a song and mixing it up and then later finding out somebody else downloaded it for free on the internet and has 100,000 hits from the song on YouTube.

You would feel robbed.

To finish off this past weeks blog, I am going to post a few songs from artists who took some original songs and made it their owns, enjoy!
