Review #1

Wow, what an amazing couple of days since our last class in which I have watched the Grammy's and seen things expanding with the death of Whitney Houston as well. I've learned that our media is very much a crazy world and it is alive. After watching "Rethinking Commerce" last class I realized how different the different media corporations such as Sony, Yahoo!, and CBS have changed drastically. Even big-time music networks such at MTV don't even produce anything to relate to their names. MTV have been taken over by the world of reality shows and lame stories. From regular people that just party like "Jersey Shore" to just another set of average teenagers becoming pregnant like many other teens in "Teen Mom". Sadly, before I wrote this blog, I spent my entire day watching "Teen Mom 2", I have disappointed Chuck Norris to some extent.

Anyways, after I looked more into the drastic changes that have taken place at the MTV network, I also realized the positive and negative changes in the music industry. From the old school big chains, to the new stylish use of auto tune as well. Our music industry has gone straight to the media's head, and I think that is what they intended to happen all along. When I look into how the music industry has changed since 2001, its quite amazing to know the advancement of technology that has grown for us. For example, looking at the Superbowl, the stage Madonna performed on was quite finger licking good. Basically, I think the media has now influenced many of our new artists, even old ones like Madonna to try their new toys.

Overall, within the last couple of years we have seen our media advance into new things such as Pandora, High Definition Tevlevisons, and even Touring. As we all continue within the semester and through the next few years, our advance in the media world will only keep growing. Even though if it progresses into things we are not capable of.

Now I give you, UGGY BOOTS!

  1. Very good perspective on our media today vs. what it was like in the documentary. I like your wide array of ideas and how you intertwine them into the main concept that we are discussing in the class. Very good point that the media has gone straight to all of our heads. It is certainly a part of almost everybody's life on a daily basis. For our generation, people have all their different clothing styles and it is apparent that many people dress alike. This isn't by chance. What we see our favorite celebrities wear is likely to be a part of our wardrobe. Sorry to get a little off topic but I find everything your saying to be more true than most people realize. Good read!

  2. lol! I like how even though you speak of how sad it is that the big name TV channels are such a bad influence, but then you admit to spending an entire day watching Teen Mom 2. Your blog was quite entertaining, I really liked your variety of topics covered.
